Can current MNREM grant awardees submit for expansion of activities under this recently released RFP?  Karen White

The RFP is open to anyone to apply. The purpose of the MNREM-WIRED grants is to test ideas, start projects, and/or expand current projects that result in significant regional change. Projects receiving MNREM-WIRED investments should have the potential to expand, be replicated or result in other projects with longer lasting effects.

    Sharing Products with DOL

We have had a number of questions re: the sharing of grant-funded products with the Department of Labor, for public dissemination. Hopefully the information below will provide some clarification. If not, please post additional questions.

If grant funds are used to purchase copyrighted curriculum, should that curriculum be submitted by the grantee as a product?

A curriculum or product that is purchased with grant funds, but not developed with grant funds, would not be submitted as a product since it was not developed with grant funds.

If a curriculum and supporting materials are developed with grant funds, with the long-term plan being to market the curriculum/materials to industry, for sustainability, does that need to be shared?

Yes, once the curriculum and supporting materials are complete, they need to be submitted through the defined format and process, and will be posted to the Workforce3One website and available to anyone who is registered for that site. Once the grant is completed the grantee can charge for the curriculum and materials. Until then, if anyone charges for it the funds are considered program income and would have to be applied back to the grant and expended for allowable grant activities.

We are pursuing business partners for our Grant Proposal.  Can you please send me a detailed explanation of “who” is an eligible business partner?  I have a local telephone cooperative who may want to partner with us.  They are expanding and growing their organization.  They provide innovative and state of the art communication technology to its members.

The main thing to remember here is that the focus of the RFP is talent development in renewable energy and/or value-added agriculture, agri-bioscience, and supporting industries as they relate to renewable energy. Therefore, industry partners need to be involved in that sector, and show their support of and participation in the proposed project as a way to help them develop the talent and skills they need in their industry.

We have had some requests to view a proposal from the previous round, as an example. One of the grantees has been kind enough to give us permission to share their proposal as a sample. Please keep in mind, however, that the new RFP has some differences from the RFP that this proposal followed, so make sure that you are aware of what is being requested in the current RFP.

    Yes

Can an entity submit more than one proposal in this round of funding?

If yes, will both proposals be viewed on their merits and have the potential to both be funded?

  8. Carol Dombek said

    Yes and yes.
