MNREM is a coalition of business people, public officials, labor representatives, and education leaders working together to drive economic development in rural Minnesota communities.

The ‘Renewable Energy Marketplace – Alliance for Talent Development’ (MNREM) is committed to diversifying the economic and energy future of the 36 county region of South Central, Southwest, and West Central Minnesota. 

The MNREM coalition seeks to leverage the rich resources of people, wind, sun, and biomass to provide local benefits (jobs, energy, and community investment) and global connections (for equipment, capital, and innovation transfer.)

MNREM has awarded $3.8 million in grants through the federally-funded WIRED (Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development) initiative. These grants are enabling local businesses, communities, and educational institutions to build renewable energy workers’ quality and capacity.

WIRED is designed to energize the nation’s economy through regional economic development partnerships and workforce education and training. The Renewable Energy Marketplace of southern and western Minnesota is one of 39 areas across the United States participating in the WIRED initiative.
